    Dr Hayee is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at King's College Hostpital. He is Lead for the Inflammatory Bowel Disease service and Training Lead for Endoscopy at King's.

    He maintains an active research portfolio after completing a PhD, awarded in 2010, examining the role of innate immunity and neutrophil function in Crohns disease. He currently supervises two clinical research fellows with projects including research into: the early pathogenesis of Crohns disease; non-invasive testing for the monitoring of biologic efficacy in IBD; intestinal graft-versus-host disease;the role of bile salts in intestinal inflammation;obesity and IBD; commercial trials of newer therapies.

    In late 2011, he undertook a fellowship to the world-renowned Digestive Disease Center in Yokohama Japan to study advanced endoscopic techniques with Professors Haruhiro Inoue and Shin-ei Kido. He has developed specialist interests in magnification endoscopy as well as endoscopic therapy for obesity (Endobarrier) and achalasia (POEM).

    Dr Hayee is a member of the Royal College of Physicians, British Society of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation and the European Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He founded the City Gastroenterology group in 2013

  • Dr Patrick Dubois

    MA PhD MRCP

    Dr Patrick Dubois is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Physician at King’s College Hospital. He studied at Oxford University before reading medicine at St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospitals, graduating in 2001. He completed post-graduate training in London and was appointed a consultant in 2012.

    Dr Dubois major interests are inflammatory bowel disease, coeliac disease and nutrition. He is clinical lead for Nutrition at King’s and also has specialist interests in inflammatory bowel disease and diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy. His main research interests are in inflammatory bowel disease and coeliac disease.

    He was awarded his PhD in 2011 for research into genetic causes of coeliac disease and Crohn’s disease. He has published many articles on coeliac disease, including primary research, reviews and a chapter in the Oxford textbook of Medicine. Current areas of research include novel treatments for coeliac disease and prediction of drug and radiation toxicities through genetics.

    Dr Dubois is a member of the Royal College of Physicians, British Society of Gastroenterology, the British Medical Association and the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation

  • Dr David Reffitt

    MBChB MD FRCP

    Dr Reffitt was appointed as a Consultant Gasroenterologist in 2002. He is clinical director of Gastroenterology, Endoscopy and Bowel Cancer Screening in the newly combined Lewisham and Greenwich Healthcare Trust and performs specialized therapeutic endoscopy in King’s College Hospital. He has a significant interest in leading and developing Gastroenterology department at the University Hospital Lewisham (UHL).

    He qualified from the University of Bristol Medical School in 1990. After completing his general medical training in Bristol Royal Infirmary, he moved to London in 1993 and over the next 9 years as a specialist registrar trained in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospitals and King’s College Hospital. He has been a consultant in his present post since December 2002. In his current career he has developed a significant interest in digestive diseases, nutrition, irritable bowel syndrome, diarrhoea, dyspepsia and is the Training lead for diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy at UHL.

    He has a major interest in training and has been the training programme director for Gastroenterology Registrars in South Thames, Kent, Surrey and Sussex regions since 2009 - organizing a comprehensive training programme for 70 specialist registrars in Gastroenterology

    He maintains a comprehensive Gastroenterology practice dealing with a complete range of diseases of the upper and lower digestive tract, and continues to practice as a general physician admitting acute medical patients. He performs highly specialized diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy for the regional hepato-pancreatico-billary service at King’s College Hospital including endoscopic ultrasound and ERCP.
